On 3/11/2013 I made a presentation at Arseniev Museum, Vladivostok, Russia. Link:

On 23/5/2013, I participated in the AppCampus initiative, as a coach. From www.appcampus.fi: “AppCampus is an €18 million joint project of Aalto University, Microsoft and Nokia. We offer financing and coaching in mobile technology, design and usability to Windows Phone developers.”
I coached 4 teams, 2 hour sessions for each. The teams were mostly developing music related apps. The coaching was done together with Gokce Taskan, who I have collaborated in different projects in the past. We gave the teams advice regarding interaction design and user experience.
Updated September 2013: I coached a second wave of AppCampus teams in September 2013, in a longer coaching process (5, 12 and 19 September).
On the 18th and 19th October, I participated in the Digital Media Arts Forum, organised by the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television. I had two presentations: one on the 18th, focusing on the history and state of the art of visual music; and another on the 19th, focusing on my work as Video Jack.
The audience was very motivated and participative, particularly on the second and longer presentation. It took place in the main building of the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television, an old Orthodox monastery reconverted into a university (the main lectures took place in the ancient altar room), and the oldest film university in Russia. Hope to collaborate more to this University, where I had already presented my work in 2008.
I was recently jury member for the Semibreve Award, part of the Semibreve Festival taking place this weekend (4-6 October 2012) in Braga and Guimarães (Portugal). Full list of winners and jury members here.
The winner was: “Entra na minha casa” (“Come into my house”) by Catarina Figueiredo and Teresa Abreu (Portugal).

On the 4th February 2012, I was jury member of the Cut&Paste design competition at Korjaamo, part of the Helsinki – World Design Capital 2012 event: http://www.cutandpaste.com/index.php/events_hel_en/helsinki_en
Participants had 8 hours to produce a 15 second video. The topic was “Invention”, and part of the brief was an emphasis on narration. The entries had all a strong aesthetics, some of them stronger on the narrative side, others on the aesthetics. The winner was Henrik Axlund.

Today (16/5/2011) I will make a “lunch talk” presentation at Culture Lab, Newcastle University, on the following topic:
“Interactive Audiovisual Projects: Toys, Art Works or Tools?”
Link to related project: www.avclash.com
Thank you to Andrzej + Ewelina and Atau Tanaka @ Culture Lab for the invitation.
Culture Lab has excellent facilities: a renovated historical building (listed building erected in 1889; award-winning renovation) in the center of town. It is also very well equipped. Despite its relative youth (it was founded in 2006), the research conducted there seems quite mature (in areas such as gestural/touchscreen interaction design and social inclusion).
