Presentations · May 2011
Today (16/5/2011) I will make a “lunch talk” presentation at Culture Lab, Newcastle University, on the following topic:
“Interactive Audiovisual Projects: Toys, Art Works or Tools?”
Link to related project: www.avclash.com
Thank you to Andrzej + Ewelina and Atau Tanaka @ Culture Lab for the invitation.
Culture Lab has excellent facilities: a renovated historical building (listed building erected in 1889; award-winning renovation) in the center of town. It is also very well equipped. Despite its relative youth (it was founded in 2006), the research conducted there seems quite mature (in areas such as gestural/touchscreen interaction design and social inclusion). In London, I had the chance to visit exhibitions at Barbican Center by Laurie Anderson/Trisha Brown/Gordon Matta-Clark and Cory Archangel. Photos:

On 7/5/2011, I had a presentation at Europen Humanities University, Vilnius, on the topic: “Visual music: from the early 20th century to the Internet age”.
Description of the presentation: “In this presentation Nuno Correia will present his own audiovisual work as part of Video Jack Studios (
www.videojackstudios.com) and present other works that have explored the visualization of sound – from the early days of cinema to contemporary new media art works.”
Many of the videos I presented are available in this YouTube playlist:

Thank you to Tatsiana and Anastasia Kulazhenko for the invitation.
During my trip, I also had the chance to visit the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Excellent facilities, situated in the historical center of Vilnius. Good student works on display throughout the building.

On 23/2/2011, I had a presentation on audiovisual art and my work as Video Jack at Satta club in Vilnius. It was organized by Bangos, the first of a monthly series of talks entitled Teorija.
One Lithuanian blog wrote an accurate post about the event (in Lithuanian):

During my stay in Vilnius, I had the chance to attend two very interesting exhibitions:
Carsten Nicolai (Alva Noto) @ SMC
Žilvinas Kempinas @ Galerija Vartai
I also had two additional DJing performances there:
